Alex Blackwood

2017 Fellow

Born and raised in Brisbane Australia, Alexandra has a degree in Business and Management from Griffith University. She focused on inter-cultural management studies with a specific interest in Asian cultures. While studying, Alexandra volunteered at her local community bookshop and worked for the Queensland Government on an economic transition strategy to improve the environment and lifestyle of locals on Stradbroke Island.

After her studies, Alexandra moved to Beijing to study Mandarin and explore China. She loved the experience so much she ended up staying for two years and learning the language to an advanced level.

Recently Alexandra has been working in London for a technology startup aiming to help kids stay safe online. This experience has sparked her curiosity in social entrepreneurship and her dreams of building her own socially-minded business. In her spare time Alexandra loves creating patchwork quilts and classic French pastries, practicing yoga and travelling.
