Benoît Grogan Avignon

2017 Fellow

Benoît is a bilingual photographer and filmmaker, who graduated with a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of St Andrews. Before Year Here, Benoît worked at Monocle Magazine, improved the lives of coffee farmers with Pact Coffee, and co-founded a business in his university town designed to help students make money while studying.

The seed for Year Here was sown in his time on Operation Raleigh in Costa Rica and Nicaragua before university, where he helped build water systems in remote villages. Despite having some impact through his work, Benoît is keen to abandon his marketing-focused career in favour of more directly helpful work. As a photographer and filmmaker, Benoît has met and worked with all manner of people, and he regularly donates his creative services to charitable causes.
