Charlotte studied Classics at Cambridge and managed to combine her study with her interest in public policy in her dissertation on child welfare policy in the Roman world. While at university she witnessed the prevalence of mental health issues among students and became involved in the peer2peer scheme, both as a student supporter and in training other students to be able to support those around them.
She enjoyed escaping the student bubble by volunteering as an English as a second language tutor and at a community group for preschoolers. In her final year she helped put on an alternative May Ball with the Christian social justice group Just Love, feeding guests with a meal prepared from food thrown away by supermarkets. Last summer Charlotte worked for the community business charity, the Power to Change, and is keen to continue to explore entrepreneurial approaches to social change as a Year Here Fellow.
