Laura Macartney

Autumn 2016 Fellow

Laura studied Spanish at the University of St Andrews. Struck by the lack of connection between the student population and local residents during her time there, Laura participated in community theatre projects and worked with The Fife Diet, a sustainable food initiative.

Since graduating, Laura has spent time working and volunteering in Latin America, the UK and Spain in education, community development and social care. Her experiences have included performing with an educational theatre project in Chile, translating and facilitating with an NGO in Guatemala and working with children affected by HIV in London. Most recently, Laura has been working with the group work team at Praxis Community Projects. Laura is interested in the relationship between applied theatre, informal learning and psychosocial wellbeing. She has a particular interest in forum theatre and trained earlier this year with Cardboard Citizens.
