Tamsin Koumis

2017/18 Fellow

Tamsin is Co-Founder of Dunkirk Legal Support Team, a human rights project facilitating access to legal information, advice and representation in Dunkirk Refugee Camp. She graduated from SOAS with a First Class BA in Social Anthropology, and has since worked researching, writing and assisting at UNESCO; as an artist’s assistant and researcher; and volunteered with the Association of Visitors to Immigration Detainees.

Throughout five years’ involvement in the migrants rights sector, Tamsin has been struck by the systemic lack of access to adequate and comprehensive information for vulnerable migrants. She first witnessed this whilst visiting detainees in the infamous Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre, and whilst interning at Hackney Migrant Centre.

She has recently been living in Tokyo and is looking forward to moving back to London to deepen her understanding of a range of issues closer to home.
