Chief Executive Officer

We're hiring a new leader to take Year Here to the next level.

Year Here is a platform for entrepreneurs who want to tackle problems that matter, consisting of a one-year Fellowship and an Accelerator programme offering investment and business support.

We’re on the hunt for an ambitious leader to become Year Here’s new Chief Executive, driving us into our next chapter of growth and impact.

As Chief Executive, you will head Year Here’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that we are running a Fellowship that is genuinely transformative, making profit and maintaining a happy and high-performing team. You will be the public face of the organisation too.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 22rd March.

About the role

A good social business should, first and foremost, be a good business. It’ll be your job to ensure that we meet our commercial goals and turn a profit year-on-year. You’ll lead our fundraising and much of our sales activity, manage our finances and make shrewd decisions to keep the business successful.

You’ll lead a brilliant core team of 8 – including designers, educators and marketeers – and a host of freelancers and consultants. You’ll make sure they’re on track with sales, recruitment and programme delivery, getting stuck in yourself to ensure success. You will also sit on the board alongside our Founder, Director of Ventures and three Non-Executive Directors.

Plus you’ll take on strategic projects like developing the Year Here Foundation, building out a new executive education offering and exploring expansion to new cities.

You will line manage our Heads of Programme, Marketing and Design and report to our board.

This is a full-time role, offering a salary of £70,000 – £80,000, depending on experience.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a confident and entrepreneurial leader with strong financial management skills. You’ll also have a solid grounding in the field of social impact and innovation.

As a leader, you’ll be a grafter with bags of ambition. You teach yourself new skills and solve your own problems, rather than waiting for guidance from others.

We are committed to building a diverse team and strongly encourage applications from women, minorities and people with disabilities.

Who we are

Since launching at 10 Downing Street in 2013, we’ve worked with over 200 aspiring social entrepreneurs and launched 34 award-winning social ventures like Cracked It, Birdsong and Chatterbox.

Our Fellowship is an immersive, action-oriented postgrad course. Each year, we recruit two cohorts of around 20 Fellows, professionals from diverse and multidisciplinary backgrounds. They learn at the frontline of inequality – in care homes, homeless hostels and schools across London. Then, supported by a rigorous social innovation curriculum and industry mentoring, they found some of the most promising social startups in the UK.

Our new Accelerator supports those emerging ventures with investment, specialist business support, access to clients, and office space.
Year Here is a social enterprise; meaning that our purpose is to create positive change in society rather than to maximise shareholder profits.

How to apply

The closing date for the role is midnight on Sunday 22rd March although we will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis.
