Aiden Tsen

2021/22 Fellow

As a 20-year-old autistic, nonbinary Oxford dropout due to long-COVID, Aiden is probably the most atypical Year Here Fellow yet! Since May 2021, they have been a public speaker, writer and artist. His work focuses primarily on intersectional accessibility, with an emphasis on disability and creating allies.

Aiden’s background lies in disability and education. In June 2017, she began volunteering with the disability charity KEEN London. For their dedication, they were named Islington’s Young Volunteer of the Year 2018. In 2019–20, he worked for Highgate School’s state school partnership department, where he organised Dr Andrew Szydlo’s Chemistry Roadshow. They worked 3.5 days per week on placement, including at the specialist autism school The Holmewood School London.

Aiden’s drive to improve the lives of disabled people stems from the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. He wants to use his lived experience and enthusiasm to help as many people as possible.
