Aviv Katz

Head of Design

Aviv Katz specialises in service design, research and creative facilitation of public service innovation. He has coached leaders and led teams, working across health, social care, justice and local government. The projects he’s worked on have helped older people to remain independent and resilient in their communities; enabled mums-to-be to access better support during pregnancy; designing new types of hospitals in London; and reimagined the future of museums with The Smithsonian in the US.

Previously, Aviv led the service design studio at Innovation Unit. Before that he worked for Engine Service Design, where he helped to set up a social innovation lab in a local authority, designed a biometrically-enabled immigration service and ran ethnographic fieldwork relating to childhood obesity. Before that he worked at the Design Council on a national skills strategy for the design sector. Aviv is also jury member of the SDN Service Design Award, guest editor of Touchpoint magazine and visiting lecturer at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.
