Daisy Jacobs

2017 Fellow

Daisy is the co-founder of Routes, a social enterprise language school for refugee women.

During Year Here 2017, Daisy was placed at St Mungo’s mental health accommodation services in Camden. She went on to work on a consulting project for Hounslow Council, setting up a volunteer-led community cafe on the Meadows Estate.

Daisy is a French and Drama graduate from the University of Bristol. While at university, she founded Bristol New Voices, a theatre project designed to connect inner-city young people with Bristol University students and the professional arts community. She also worked as a facilitator with Blesma, the limbless veterans charity, inspiring wounded ex-servicemen to become public speakers and workshop facilitators.

Daisy has also volunteered as a French and English teacher in Calais’s unofficial refugee camp and worked at The Orange House, a space providing support, activities and shelter for vulnerable refugees in Athens. Daisy loves photography, particularly portraiture; cooking – and eating– with friends and family, and searching out live music.
