Jess Barratt

Trustee, Year Here Foundation

Jess is a trustee of the Year Here Foundation, a new charity designed to widen access to social entrepreneurship for people from diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds.

Jess is also the founder and CEO of Franklin Scholars, a social enterprise working in secondary schools across England. The organisation works to support vulnerable pupils through tricky transitions by recruiting and training older pupils to be their personal tutors and champions, and supports them, in turn, to grow as young leaders committed to social change.

Prior to founding Franklin Scholars, Jess managed a youth-led peer education initiative in Mozambique, worked as an Artist Manager for Warner Music UK, and developed Mind The Gap – a project that brought together young people and creative professionals in East London to co-design live community events, raising awareness and promoting positive action around issues facing young people, and providing them with mentoring, skills development and networks.
