Kelly Peake

2021 Fellow

With a background in applied linguistics, Kelly’s career has been in higher education and academic development. Originally from South Africa, she worked in Japan for five years before settling in London where she joined the Queen Mary University of London, becoming Head of Learning Development in 2017.

She co-created the internationally recognised Thinking Writing programme which foregrounded the role of writing in learning and developing materials and training that formed the basis of a successful schools’ literacy programme. Kelly also volunteered for the Council for at Risk Academics (CARA international) supporting Syrian academics.

Kelly left academia to co-found an independent consultancy focusing on innovative and flexible educational development. This shift, combined with seeing the impacts of Covid on her community, has inspired Kelly to explore how her experience of education can contribute to social change.

She loves exploring the world with her family.
