Laura co-founded InCommon, a resident-powered welcome programme building community in sheltered housing for older people.
During Year Here, Laura was placed at City Gateway, an alternative provision school for children with social and behavioural difficulties where she developed various initiative to boost wellbeing, emotional literacy and communication skills among City Gateway’s students. She went on to write a social and economic regeneration strategy for the Gascoigne Estate in Barking – for East Thames Housing Association.
Before Year Here, Laura spent time working in Latin America, the UK and Spain in education, community development and social care. Her experiences have included performing with an educational theatre project in Chile, translating and facilitating with an NGO in Guatemala and working with children affected by HIV in London.
