Laura Steen

2019/20 Fellow

Laura has combined a background in Anthropology with a strong sense of social justice to undertake creative, educational and fundraising projects in the charity and voluntary sectors both in the UK, Europe and South America.

On completing her degree at Goldsmiths, Laura taught English in a secondary school in Madrid for two years where she piloted an e-learning scheme called ‘Global Scholars’ which empowered students to create their own digital projects, raising awareness of global issues such as food security and climate change. Last September Laura returned to the UK inspired by a strong desire to get involved in tackling social issues in her home country, and has since spent time as a support worker with an autism charity, volunteering for MIND and organising fundraising events for grassroots mental health charities in Cornwall and Bristol.
