As a Year Here Fellow, Lizzie was placed at Langdon Academy and with social enterprise Franklin Scholars. She also led a consultation of the enterprise programmes of Genesis Housing and explored an idea to use the peer tutoring to support immigrant students to learn English. She was mentored by John Paul Flintoff. Following her fellowship, she went on to work at Voice 21, a charity raising the status of oracy in education which was born out of School 21, an innovative school in Stratford, East London.
Before joining Year Here, Lizzie worked as abroad as an English Language teacher. She also co-founded the York Union whilst at university, a speaker and debating forum with a mission to encourage students to engage with society’s most pertinent issues.
