Nishant Lalwani

Nishant is a Non-Executive Director of Year Here. He also leads global strategy for investing in independent media for The Luminate Group, established by Pierre Omidyar, the founder of Ebay.

Nishant has more than a decade of experience in private sector development and social enterprise. He was previously COO and co-founder of the Global Innovation Fund, aiming to support and scale exciting social innovations in developing economies, and  a founder of the Monitor Inclusive Markets group in India that focused on market-based solutions for poverty. In this role he published papers on how businesses can engage the Bottom of the Pyramid in journals such as the Harvard Business Review. Prior to Monitor, he worked with the UNDP in Zambia, where he helped develop new financing products for microfinance institutions across the country.

He also spent several years in London and New York as a strategy consultant with Marakon Associates, and he sits on the board of Shivia, a multinational non-profit that supports livelihood creation. Nishant holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering and a B.A. in General Engineering from Cambridge University.
