Ruth Martin

2018/19 Fellow

Ruth co-founded Telescope, an insights programme linking the policy and social sectors. They aim to build understanding and collaboration between people making policy and those tackling issues on the frontline.

Ruth was a 2018/19 Fellow. She completed her frontline placement with Langdon Park School and then went on to work with Hillingdon Council as part of her consulting project. She was mentored by social innovator Cat Drew.

Prior to Year Here, Ruth completed her PhD in political history at Cambridge University, where she assessed the protection of civil liberties and human rights in the US. Ruth has investigated some of the biggest challenges faced by the UK, including youth radicalisation, gangs and sexual exploitation, homelessness, and discrimination and hate crime. She has worked with the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the Home Affairs Select Committee, and Oxfam.
