Shayane is the founder of Pomegranate, a social enterprise supporting asylum seekers and refugees through the creative arts. She also joined the Year Here team in July 2018.
Shayane was a 2017/18 Fellow, placed at Housing Justice and worked on their destitute asylum seeker hosting project. At her placement, she developed a ‘Welcome Handbook’ to support asylum seekers & refugees in settling into their new neighbourhoods. For her consultancy project, she helped Soundings and St George to engage young people in Alperton through launching a youth panel. She was mentored by Amy Cooper.
Shayane graduated in 2016 with a degree in Human, Social, and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge. She was drawn to Social Anthropology, thanks to her degree’s emphasis on community engagement and active participation. Before joining Year Here, Shayane worked as a digital strategist at a marketing agency, helping to generate ideas and develop creative tech solutions for their clients.
