Vaughan Mottley

2020 Fellow

Vaughan was born and raised in East London. He has a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Ethics from Brighton University and wrote his dissertation on social entrepreneurship and sustainability.

After graduating he worked as a researcher and development consultant for a mindfulness technology start-up and a as brand manager for a British fashion designer. In 2018 he launched his own clothing brand which debuted at Africa Fashion Week.

Interested in the economics of inequality and sustainability, Vaughan is passionate about exploring the political and economic mechanisms which can catalyse large-scale change. In particular, Vaughan is interested in social entrepreneurship becoming a primary factor in transforming society. He joined Year Here to experience, first hand, the challenges faced by organisations that are creating change in a society increasingly divided along political, economic and cultural lines.
