Winnie Ogwang

2020 Fellow

Born and raised in South-East London, Winnie is grounded in the culture of altruism of her immigrant community, which so often fills the gap the state leaves behind.

She joins us after three years of experience working at a venture that built social housing for displaced people. She is particularly proud to have worked closely with local council and community groups to house Syrian refugees, including 25% of Bristol’s Syrian refugee population.

Passionate about building sustainable people-centred solutions, Winnie is excited to develop ideas alongside communities that address social problems and empower those in marginalised communities. She is particularly interested in exploring how young people can be trained and encouraged to be agents of change within their own communities, and how barriers to entry can be reduced to encourage budding refugee entrepreneurs.

In her spare time, she is a keen reader and weekly cinema attendee.
